The national flag of Tajikistan was officially adopted in 1992. It consists of three horizontal lines. The top line on the flag of Tajikistan - the red, the middle stripe - white and green lower stripe. Red stripe of the flag represents the sun, victory, triumph. White - the moral purity of the people, the snow on the mountaintops above the clouds, which occupy 93 percent of Tajikistan's territory, nearly half the area lies at an altitude exceeding 3,000 meters. White, therefore, reflects the natural feature of the republic. The green bar is the symbol of the spiritual essence of Islam. Green on the flag symbolizes the national holiday Nowruz (ie New Year, celebrated on 21 - March 22). Nowruz days mark the beginning of agricultural work, as the green - the color of germinating wheat grains and a symbol of nature's bounty. The crown on the flag represents the Tajik people, the Tajik language "tadzhvar" means "crown". In the traditional Tajik culture, the magic number "seven" is a symbol of excellence, the embodiment of happiness and virtue. This explanation comes from the ancient Tajik beliefs according to which the heavens consist of seven beautiful gardens, surrounded by seven mountains, on each of them shining star. The flag of Tajikistan there is a certain similarity in style and color palette with the national flag of Iran, this is due to the fact that both states are populated by Indo-Aryan kindred peoples.
